The winery and vineyards are located int he most southwestern part of the appelation in the province of Segovia. Aiming from the outset for the highest quality wines, the grapes from this wine come from 30.5 hectares of very old Verdejo vines with low yields (2.5t/ha). Javier Ayala
Palacio de Bornos
In January 1976 (7 years before the establishment of the D.O Rueda) Antonio Sanz decided to found his own winery in Rueda and became winemaker and owner of Bodegas Palacio de Bornos. Bodega Hijos de Alberto
BODEGAS HIJOS DE ALBERTO GUTIÉRREZ, S.A.
The original winery, housed in what used to be a farmhouse, dates back to the mid 17th Century. There is documentary evidence of its existence in the Charter of the Village of Serrada, given by King Carlos II: at that time, 1697, it was the property of the Dominican Order, renowned in the region for their tradition in the purveyance of quality wines.
Over time, at the beginning of the 19th Century, and as a result of the process of the effective privatisation of Church property, some of these assets, including this Winery, passed into private hands.
It would be in 1949 when Alberto Gutiérrez, together with his sons Dalmacio, José and Alberto, established the family business,
Today it is one of the largest producers in the area, with a storage capacity in excess of 15 million litres, (approx 3.5 million gallons). We have at our disposal state-of-the-art technology and equipment to produce the finest wines recognized as such by the Quality Committees D. O. Rueda and Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla y León
BODEGAS VIDAL SOBLECHERO,S.L.
BODEGAS VIDAL SOBLECHERO,S.L.
La Seca, located in the heart of Rueda, the central region of Castilla-León, is the home of Bodegas Vidal Soblechero. A few years ago the family decided to give a new dimension to their huge experience in wine growing. A small winery was to be founded, searching for a different way of working to that of their neighbours, who were mainly driven by high volumes of production. Instead, quality should come first. The most important base for excellent wines - a sufficiently high amount of vineyards with old vines - had been established by Claudio Vidal Obregón, who is still responsible for the vineyards, continually for the last forty years. It's the familys aim to bottle high quality wines which reflect both the character of the region Rueda and the tradition of the grape varieties Verdejo and Tinta Fina. Today, the winery is run by Claudio Vidal's children, Alicia and Vidal.
SOLAR DE MUÑOSANCHO ,S.L.
SOLAR DE MUÑOSANCHO ,S.L.
This young and innovative cellar, belongs to the González Huertas brothers.Solar de Muñosancho is born thanks to its current Technical Manager’s, Carlos González Huerta, strong early call to grape and wine-growing. The guidance of prestigious professors and highly-skilled professionals closely related to the wine world deepened his vocation, which was firstly felt while he studied Chemistry at the University of Valladolid. Realizing the promising future of the
sector also influenced him in his choice of Oenology studies on top of his Chemistry degree.
From 1992, in view of the growing importance of the grape and wine-growing sector in Castile and León, and particularly in Valladolid, he gained support from his family and established “Bodegas Solar de Muñosancho”. The winery placed in an area with a deeply-rooted tradition of elaboration of wines, in a village named La Seca, close to Rueda. In addition, his initial idea of establishing a winery in La Seca took shape thanks to his brother Jesus’s then deep-rooted relation to wine and grape-growing, who now owns vineyards in the said town of Valladolid, mainly planted to Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc and Tinto Fino. The new winery has been built over an ancient cellar from XVII
century. In its vaults canons are the barrels where its wines are aged.
VIÑEDOS DE NIEVA, S.L.
VIÑEDOS DE NIEVA, S.L.
Company founded in 1989 in the town of Nieva, with more than 50 hectares of vineyards.
With our new wine cellar, we are prepared to make the most of the Verdejo grape, which is so highly esteemed on the national and international markets.
The latest technology, stainless steel containers with cooling jackets, pneumatic press, automatic macerator, vacuum filter, cooling equipment for fermentation control and temperature stabilisation of the wine, etc. mean that the wine cellar is a modern company which makes the most of the pedigree of a wine production area par excellence.
And if all this makes Viñedos de Nieva S.L. a serious, competitive company, there is still more to discover: the magic of wine is in the grapes. The newly-planted vineyards owned by the company use trellises so as to treat them and make the most of the hours of sunlight.
Vineyards known as old or under glass, planted in the traditional way, contribute superior quality to the wines.
In these older vineyards, Viñedos de Nieva S.L. has a link to the past, native vineyards of the Verdejo variety, which survived the phylloxera plague which devastated vineyards all over Europe in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Thanks to the harshness of the soil and to the climate, parts of the Nieva district were lucky enough to escape this vine plague.
These vineyards provide grapes of exceptional quality. This naturally translates into wines which provide a new experience for the palate of the consumer.
Viñedos de Nieva S.L. offers its customers a range of wines made from the highest-quality grapes.
A single-variety range in its young wines, and a barrel-fermented white wine.

VINOS SANZ, S.A.
VINOS SANZ, S.A.
The history of Vinos Sanz dates back to more than a century ago. This Castilian winery located in the prestigious grape growing area of Rueda was founded in 1870. A family from La Seca, known as the Donatos, believed in their land’s still uncertain potential to produce white wines, wines made from the almost unknown local variety called Verdejo.
In 2004 the winery set about extending its facilities and totally renewing its machinery, though continuing to show full respect for the winemaking tradition handed down from fathers to sons.
We check and verify all our winemaking process, from the picking of the fruit to the bottling and packing process, to produce high quality wines. Our brands: Sanz, Finca La Colina, Montesol and Campo Sanz.
Land, know-how and love of wine, handed down from generation to generation. Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc a touch of Viura. Hand-picked, selected cluster by cluster from the vine. Because a wine is made in the vineyard and the masterful touch is provided at the winery. Such is Vinos Sanz… from the land and the sun.
